INSTALL THROTTLE CABLE for 65 Dream

I just got the correct throttle cable for my 1965 Dream i took the old one off and installed the new one. the needle jet is set at 4th noch down.i tried to start the bike it wont start now,it was running before i put the new cable in? i made sure the carb. was set right,the timing was set.what could i have done wronge.need help

Hi G.thanks for replying,i think i have the slide in right.doesn't the slide only fit one way?
