Identifying what year my bike is

Hello everyone I just got a Honda CB77 from a relative. It was his brothers who passed away several years ago. The Titke says it's a 1977 but I don't think that's right since it was last plated in 1973. The vin number is CB771020893 I will be bringing the bike home this weekend and will need to order pistons and rings for it since the #1 cylendar seized up but my cousin got it loose then broke a ring and stopped working on it 11 years ago. Any help identifying the year will be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking the same thing. I seen on here to look at the wiring harness under the tank. When I pick it up this weekend I will look due to the tank and engine are already out of the frame. Once I figure out the year I will have to have the DMV correct the title. Thanks for your input SeaDog i will keep you posted on what I discover.
