I've got an oil leak behind the dynamo. I bought a new seal, but I wanted to ask... is there ANYTHING special I need to know before I unbolt it and pull it off?? Is the shaft KEYED or do I need to have it in a special "timing" before removal? I looked at the shop manual... but... it doesn't really show me anything OR I am in the wrong area of the manual. It's a 1973 Shop Manual PDF type, not a paper one.
UPDATE::
I did remove the "outer" section that is held on with 3 bolts. But the "Center" part that is magnetized... I "Imagine" that will need a puller???
Further examination of my PDF manual, it does mention a Dynamo Rotor Puller. So... it's just that I was expecting to SEE a photo of the removal of the AC Dynamo Rotor. 1973 Shop Manual Page 61 steps 5 & 6

Get a 16mm x 1.5 pitch bolt. Remove the rotor holding bolt then screw the 16mm bolt in until it is tight. Tap the end with a hammer and it should come off. If not, tighten some more and repeat until it does..
The rotor is keyed to th eshaft so it can only go back one way.

Sometimes a rear wheel spindle can be used. I'm told that you can get one from McMaster Carr.

I ended up using a 3 jaw puller.
Got the new seals in! Thanks for the help.
While I had it up on my Lift Table, I decided to replace the broken Speedo cable with a new one I bought. I pulled the old one out, and put the new one in. Before I screwed the bottom on, I thought... I should make sure the cable is seated and would turn... Nope. Speedo is FROZEN up. No wonder the other cable broke! This was broke when I got the bike. So... Speedo repair is next on my on my list.
