Dream - Hard starting cold - easy starts warm?Dream - Hard starting cold - easy starts warm?Choke seems to be working fine, float level correct, bike runs well otherwise.
Round float bowl. Took carb apart, soaked in lacquer thinner, nice and clean. Responds to adjustment in air screw but is very sensitive - 1/4 turn either way makes a big difference. Anyway, feels like it's too lean when starting cold (even with choke ON) so I was wondering if a richer pilot jet might improve things. (Don't know what size is in there now) Advice appreciated. Do what you've always done and you'll get what you've always had.
I've tried priming it by kicking it a few times with the ignition OFF and choke/fuel ON prior to turning the ignition on, which seemed to help a bit in the past, but no more.
Wondering if the spring on the choke bypass plate is too weak, causing the choke to be ineffective. Perhaps it would help to fix the plate closed, and then adjust the choke manually as needed once it starts. A small-bore Amal concentric would be nice, as it has both a tickler and a choke. Do what you've always done and you'll get what you've always had.
As said back in the 60's.
