CA77 spark issue

Yes, I was mistakenly thinking this was due to a fouling plug and as you rightly taught me - you gotta get the valve and ignition timing right before looking at the carb. ;-)

The plug thats not firing is soaked with fuel, I was playing with it a little more tonight and put in a fresh plug. It started right up and was running good at high rpm's, when I try and let it idle.... the left side stops firing. I can tell by the sound and looking at the tailpipe, when I give it gas, it comes back on....I'm sratching my head.

Hmm, strange one. Plugs seemed to be gapped correctly. You say the problem is not transfering to the other side when you change the plug lead and plug cap? What sort of plug caps are you using - could one be faulty?

I doubt the exhaust has anything to do with this problem.
One side runs and other only at high revs. NOT THE CARB.
Single set of points. NOT THE POINTS.
Transferred the plug wires and problem didn't transfer. NOT THE COIL
Only runs at high revs. COMPRESSION,VALVES? ......................lm

Hey guys, well I pulled the carburetor and went through it again, put an in line filter on, cleaned the new plugs and it ran amazing for about 15 minutes. I had to then petal the throttle to keep it running, waited about an hour and it ran great again. Like the first time it was short lived.....coil??

As I read this you have tried switching the plug wires with no difference in operation. Have you tried switching the plugs for cylinder to cylinder? Just a thought.

Hey guys, just a quick update, I ordered a new coil as I think mine weakens when it gets hot. Also I am going to remove the carburetor again and double check the float level, I'm noticing some gas coming from the over flow tube.I'll keep you all updated as things progress.
