Piston rings

Post by djohns » Thu Dec 27, 2007 4:32 pm

Putting new pistons and rings in my CA77. The book says the grey "dull dark edged ring" goes on the second groove and the "shiny silver coated ring" goes in the top slot. Both of my compression rings are dull, however one style has a step on the outer edge and the step is shiny. Is this the "shiny" one referred to? Just want to make sure. Thanks in advance.

I wish I could get someone to give me an answer on this question. Out of 101 views you would think someone would know the answer. Problem with asking the mechanics at the local Honda shop is most were born a couple of decades after this bike and most don't know what a CA/CB/CL is.
