Another new Superhawk owner Some pic's added

Post by ekim » Tue Aug 05, 2008 9:20 am

Just got the 67 Superhawk that was just listed on ebay. He accepted my offer so I'm off to Indiana soon to pick it up. And to think I use to live in Lowell!! Lots of questions will follow I'm sure and some pictures too.

A little update, the bike looks pretty good, broken tail light lense, shorty mufflers but original headers it looks like, ape hangers - those are the first thing to go, and no turn signals and I think they cut the signal wires off. All the cables, throttle, clutch and front brake need to be replaced. Front fender looks very good and one of the tank badges is cracked but all there. Even has a full tool kit. Seat is a little faded but no tears that I saw -yet. Foot peg and kick start rubbers are bad. I'm really getting excited now that I got it home, but I have to get that darn 78 750 engine back together before I can start on the cb77. I can see a lot of elbow grease in my future. I'll get some before and after pic's once I give it a good washing.

Did the cb77 come with a side stand, I didn't see one on it, and the center stand hits the chain with the short mufflers on it.

Did the cb77 come with DID rims? Mine has DID rims front and back. The reat tire is a 4:00X18" and looks very big for the bike. The front is a 2.75X18" and looks small on the rim!

Does anybody make a longer adjusting shifting rod so you can move the foot pegs back to the rear location?

Can any other side kick stand be mounted on the cb77!!!

Yes, DID chrome steel rims, fromt tire 2.75-18, rear 3.00-18. You can make your own longer shift rod from 1/4 inch rod, and two 1/4 inch rod ends Only the very spendy Honda kickstands as far as I know. here's a pic of home made shift rod.

Thanks for the reply about the longer shift rod. I spent about 2 hours last night reading old post and saw your longer rod after I posted. I'm a retired machinist and figured I could make one, just thought I see if one was even avalible <sp?.

As far as the side stand, my bike has a very good dunlop K70 4:00 X 18 rear tire but it rubs the center stand spring and I didn't want to buy a new tire just yet. May have to tho, unless I can take the center stand off and move the rear wheel up as it's adjusted all the way back now. So many things to do, I'm not sure where to start, I guess the carbs then the handle bars - those ape hanger have got to go.

I took a few pictures today before I washed it up some. I guess some of you guys have seen worse looking projects, at least it does run - not good but it runs. Needs the carbs and points checked and the mufflers are straight thru - baffles are gone. Looks like the 750k will have to wait for a while.
