How much did you pay?

Post by Austin » Tue Aug 05, 2008 10:15 pm

as I mentioned in my other post, I just purchased a 1964 305 Dream with less than 600 original miles. All original parts, 2 owners, runs well.

It is my first bike. I am a complete novice, but I'm excited to learn more. Does anyone have a compareable bike? How much did you pay? How much would this bike typically go for? I know that is a broad question, but 'm interested in hearing a few opinions because I haven't found a lot of comps out there that are in a similar condition.

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure that the 600 miles are original? Do you have better pictures? The motor looks like it's painted or something...

Does the speedometer look like it may have been replaced?

Anyway, I paid about a grand for my '66 in excellent shape but completely unmolested.

I find it hard to believe it has only 600 miles also. One narrow and one wide WW tire?No carb. covers?Front fender looks bent upwards which is common on these.Seat looks bent down towards frame like mine was when I got it from lots of riding.Seat cover looks funky?Hate to be this skeptical?

$800 for my '63 CA77. Missing speedometer, left side cover, carb covers and chain guard bottom. Runs well and otherwise complete.

My brother purchased 65 Dream for $300 in 1970 in Strongsville, Ohio.
Gave it to me when he went to Nam.
I gave it to my Dad when I moved to Florida in 73.
He gave it to friend, and so on, and so on.
7 years ago my daughter was racing karts in Circleville, Ohio so I tracked the bike down to a barn in Strongsville (sat there, under hay, since 75).
The current owner had forgotten that it was even there and said I could have it back.
Interesting that the title was still in my Dad's name.
Brought is to Florida in our karting trailer and did a "self-restore".
Found a ex-restorer in Ocala, Florida with a ton of new and used parts and bought it all for $300.
So, over 38 years we have $600 in her.
