cb72 oil filter seized up overheated and melted
here are a few pic's of the oil filter from my 64 cb72 it looks like it froze on it's shaft at somepoint in it's life and got very hot anyone see this before? what caused it by the way the washer was on the outside stuck with melted aluminum on it. also the sprocket is able to turn on the housing.

Re: added info
I'd say the washer was left off the shaft on the locater pin end and the cap and large cover started to eat each other and the heat was transmitted thriugh the entire part.
Take a look at the inside of the cover. ................lm
