clutch cable too short for low bars
clutch cable too short for low barsI've got a new clutch cable (classic honda restorations) that looks great and is made for low bars but looks to me to be about 6" too short. I've tried every which way of routing it but it tightens right up when I try to turn the bars left. 29" sheath lenght, 34.5" overal. I've got the low (flat) bars from the same company, anyone else run into this problem? I've put a few clutch cables on in my life but this one is making a fool out of me! Help!
Yeah I had similar issues. I just run out and measured mine( as near as I can with it on the bike)and it's the same length as what you have. I got my cable from Retro and the bars from Tim. It seems too short when you first install it, but get the routing right and it will work fine. I've had no issues. Did you cut the bars down? That would make the difference.

Re: clutch cable too short for low barsMaia, I had the same problem, I moved the levers in maybe a quarter inch + and it solved the problem with the clutch. I found a picture, see the space between the levers and grips/switch mounts. Gunner
Re: clutch cable too short for low barsCorrect routing takes the cable close to the r/h carb, beneath the tank (ahead of the balance pipe spigot), exiting under the front tank mount and crossing ahead of the front brake cable. I have an OEM cable off the bike; I'll measure it tomorrow.
