Newbie w/ a New Bike!!

Post by Glenardo » Sun Jul 04, 2010 4:56 pm

Hey Everyone,
Just picked up my cicle, 1962 CB77 Superhawk in white!!! It's been awhile since I've had a bike, last one was an '81 CB750 15 yrs ago. It's in great shape, but I look forward messing with it. Glad I found this forum, looks like lots of good info and advice. Time I get it registered I leave for a month vacation to China/Mongolia. But I'll be back!!!

Well I got it registered today and took it for it's 1st real spin. What a blast!!!!!! I sure miss riding a bike. I picked up a '70's orange sparkle helmet w/ bubble shield from Craigslist for $40. I'm glad it's a full face, so everyone couldn't see the sh*t eatin' grin I had while riding!!!!

After doing some more reading here I think it might be a 1963 according to the VINs??? Mine is CB77312727 w/ engine # CB77E312727.

Yeah, the seat is funky but I like it. I'll probably get chastised for saying that. I'm more into keeping it period than perfectionist on a restoration.

G, That is one good looking bike. You are correct, with those numbers it is a 63. I have never heard of a CB or CL with the same frame and engine numbers before, so you do have a very special bike. Enjoy and good luck. Cliff

First and foremost, Glenardo, good to see a proper introduction and you state your location. Amazing! I/we wish all noobs would do that! Proper chap; you'll get plenty of help here.

Second: that's exactly how my first CB77 looked when I swapped it, with a mate, for his CA95 (another story!) back in '71. Only yours looks so-o-o-o-o much better (I painted mine myself...... badly). Sure brings back memories!

Not common, apparently, but not unheard-of either, Cliff. Definitely nice to see, though! Should be cherished.....

Glen, sweet bike! Can you post a picture of the numbers for Ed to scrutinize? Not unheard of, but pretty rare for the numbers to match from the factory. Welcome to the forum.............................D
