would safety switch prevent spark?would safety switch prevent spark?hey hey folks
i'm brand new today so i don't want to feel stupid lol my question is if i have a faulty neutral safety switch would that prevent spark in the coil? my engine is a type II i believe with the single points and single dual coil ca77e-1024999 and i also cannot find any vin # on the frame so if anyone has any info about that would be great. thanks Pete thank youwell thats some good news however i'm gonna need a new coil woo hoo keep an eye out for some photos i will be posting during my new adventures as scooter man and his slow voyage into restoration insanity.
take care Pete Whast makes you think you need a coil besides no spark. These coils are pretty reliable even after 45 yrs.Could be ignition sw., points cond. loose or corroded connections. You do have the key in the proper position right?Other newbies have been fooled by the positions on the ign. sw.You may want to use the search function before jumping into a new coil and do some fact finding.good luck
i got power to coili have tried every position on the ign switch and with a light i got power to both leads on the coil and at the points i've checked the leads to the plugs and checked the plug caps as well i even held it with my hand and kicked it over but i got no jolt so is there another way to check the coil or is there any inline fuses i can look at besides the one in the battery box?
make sure the wire from condenser to points isn't grounding out. The tiny bolt that holds the wire to the points must have the fiber washers on either side, and a collar in the middle. I have bought several old Hondas that never ran again after POs installed new points.
