What's the best for cleaning rust out of tank? What's the best for cleaning rust out of tank?I am going to seal my gas tank with a good sealer. What is the best rust remover? Some of the common rust removers have muriatic acid and I think phosphoric acid. Any suggestions? I live in Costa Rica, so I will not have the same brand names as the US. So if you can help me with the chemical itself, this will help. Thanks!
GG Take a look at electrolytic de-rusting. Works quite well with tanks if you can get the electrode shielded properly from touching the sides.

I've seen good reviews for this, but haven't tried it myself yet.

Tank cleaningOkay guys - thanks for the tip. Sounds a bit scary, and I don't know what "washing soda" translates to in Spanish. I'll give it a try! GG
I picked up a gallon of the Harbor Freight Evapo Rust that I'm going to try this weekend. I only have very light rust inside, but while I'm waiting for my parts to arrive I thought I'd give it a cleaning. I'm going to 1st wash it soapy water and shake around a short length of chain to break up any crud on the bottom of the tank. Then let the Evapo Rust soak for a few days. I'll let you know how it works.
GG Where in Costa Rica are you living???? About 10 yrs ago I spent a summer there just lounging and drinkin' Imperials!!! Ahhhhh.... Pura Vida!!!
