Hey Guys,
So I am nearing (in the next 3 weeks) the point when I will be able to reassemble the bike fully and install the motor to see if she fires up... It was really tempermental before and I have adjusted the points & timing (with the light technique) so I am anxious to see if she runs. It was running last seasons but starting was always the issue. Once it warmed up, it was never a problem to start but when it was cold it was REALLLY trickey. Im wondering if you guys have a technique you follow to start your 305 dreams? I am about to move into the world of tuning the carb, that should also help quite a bit... Anyways, I hope to get your starting "steps/methods" so I can get a better sense of what I should consider when starting... Thanks!

Hey E3,
Read through it... Really interesting, concerned now that by removing the multi-stage key with a primer position I will lose that function entirely as I replaced the key with a single button... :/
I guess I wont really know until I put it all back together and try to start her up!
I will take it in stride and see how it goes, if she doesnt start, this thread might become a monster!
Thanks again!

Is it that bad?
I figure I can alway mount a switch in the bike to put it into the prime position!? Thoughts?
Sounds like most people on here dont even use the prime position, so what would I be missing if I only have a button that acts as the ignition?

This is about the best I can come up with for a replacement switch design.
A triple pole, double throw or
A double pole, double throw combined with a single pole, double throw
with center off position? (15 amp)

That works Brew. The only alternative would be a DPDT with centre-off and a SPST 15A (contacts) relay; the relay contacts to link the pink & yellow when the relay is actuated. Coil connections across ground & TL,ML,HL junction (RUN, LIGHTS ON).
