I'm restoring an CL72 250 and only have the left hand carb, no idea where the other went to... I need some help or info:
first off, can a 305 carb be used on a 250 if adjusted correctly?
Second, if not, does anyone know of anywhere good to purchase a right hand carb?
It is a Keihin pw22 and has the CL72A enscripted on it. ebay only has a limited amount of carbs and i really have a hard time trusting the quality of the product on there..
any help would be much appreciated!!! Thanks for your time!!
CL72 Carb question....
Hi
Welcome to the forum. The CL72 carb is 22mm and the 305 (CL77) is 26mm so will not work properly. You need to look out for a CL72 or, perhaps, a CB72 carb.
Keep looking on eBay and someone here may have on for you.

Nice find G-Man.
the other answer is that the 26mm CL/CB77 carbs can be used as a pair but they are a little large for a stock motor. That used to be a common hop up trick back in the day and it's not hard to fit them, but you should use matching insulating blocks which are different on the 305s. In a pinch you could dremmel yours out to suit.
Jetting might be off, but we use those carbs on a CB175 race bike (180cc) and they work fine but we had to make a few changes to the needles and needle jet and main jets
