Carb missing a flap on the choke?

Post by Rock160 » Sun Aug 07, 2011 3:39 pm

I pulled the factory carbs off my 1966 CB160 to do a rebuild. When the choke is on a round opening is lowered in front of the air intake. The round opening has a pin/spring across the top as if there should be a plate or flapper attached. Am I missing a part? Both carbs are identical in this respect.

Are these "opening door" parts available someplace or are they unobtanium?

I don't think they were ever available as a replacement part. They are part of the choke door and for some reason CB160's seem to "lose" a lot of them.

I probably have a pair of choke "doors" it you need them.

It seems I am missing both of them. PM sent.

I"m new to honda carbs, how would this 'door' get lost?

Thank you gentlemen for your prompt and helpful responses. This is a great site.

One pair of choke "slides" complete with flaps mailed today.

They vibrate and eventually snap off. They are stamped from thin steel sheet and there's two "hinges" that break off and the flap goes through the motor.
