I have a 65 305 dream that I am rebuilding the engine on. It has a split camshaft that I cannot get apart because I don't know if it is a right or left handed thread. The manual says that it could be either which does not help me. Any thoughts out there?
Thanks,
Kish
1965 305 DREAM
Cam Advancer Nut
According to Bill Silver's '06 Resto guide for Dreams:
14320-259-020 is LH This is the more robust very early sprocket mechanism
14320-259-030 is RH This is the lighter sprocket mechanism used into 1962
14320-259-040 is LH Beginning with CA77E- 213875 to end of production
The last change was apparently made in 1962 so yours should be LH. IIRC you can also see a little bit of the threads on the sprocket assembly and should be able to tell which way the nut comes off.
Hope that helps.
