G.just seems odd that they all not the same. and a easy thing not to get right, if you don't know they should be different.also what we was talking about today the chrome side cover. this is mine when i unpacked it, out of the box it came in.

I think they were just rushing to get the bike to market. They were constantly changing things to get the cost of production down and keep quality up.

The aluminium shock covers and front fender we obviously a bit of a blind alley, cost-wise, and couldn't have done much to save weight. Chucking out the big cam sprocket was far more effective at weight saving.... :-)

Malcolm

I'm afraid I don't know of anyone personally. I would just put s broom handle through the headstock. Get that vertical and then check the swing-arm for horizontal. Then using some strings tied to the swing arm spindle try and check the headstock for being central.

You could also put a straight edge along the top frame tubes and any others you suspect to be distorted.

Yes - interesting about the chrome side panels. I wonder if it was a "bling" option in the UK. Mine has chrome plated chain guard and side panels.I don't really like it but might reproduce that if I thought it was an authentic option.
